Everything you should know about the free service
Volunteer relays, their logging policies, and how we verify every exit — published up front, no fine print.
- FlowMoney VPN is completely free for individual users. There are no plans, no prices, no trials, no data allowances and no payment requirements.
- Free connections use the public VPN Gate volunteer directory, an academic research project of the University of Tsukuba, Japan. VPN Gate officially permits developers to use this directory for client applications, and no VPN Gate account is required.
- Every relay is operated by an independent volunteer. Each relay declares its own logging policy (for example "2 weeks"); FlowMoney always shows it to you before you connect.
- Your device connects directly to the volunteer relay with OpenVPN. Your traffic does not pass through FlowMoney servers, including our preserved Miami WireGuard node.
- Volunteer relays are not suitable for anonymity-critical activity. Always verify your actual exit IP, country and city with the exit verifier after connecting.
- Tor remains a separate optional feature; it is not required for free connections.
- OpenVPN is open-source software (GPLv2 for OpenVPN 2.x). The VPN Gate directory is offered openly for client applications like this one.
- Customers who previously paid: your subscription and billing records are preserved for history, and no further charges will be taken.
